This is a first ever for Unholy Rhythms - the release of the Born Gold lyric sheet! I have long since admired the words and imagery conjured up by transcendental stanzas often filled with abstract repugnance. While most people embrace the psychedelic, demonic tinged sounds of the past, the newest sounds seem to be a bit more foreboding, caliginous yet empyrean and I couldn’t wait to find out the words.
The one thing I have always admired were the lyrics. Those phrases, cloaked in ardent abhorrence - hallucinogenic, kaleidoscopic odes. The latest songs on the yet to be released album, “Little Sleepwalker”, are fantastic - enrapturing, riveting texts from the forelorn longing in “Pulse Thief” and “Black Sonar” to the dreamlike “Gauze Pillars” this peek into what lies ahead makes me more excited for the album to drop.

Yours Truly just dropped this How To Dress Well video of the man himself performing a classic Kells number. I cannot express enough how much I love HTDW and this cover, which he dedicates to a friend, solidifies the fact. Major love.
Ricky Eat Acid - You Get Sick; You Regret Things

I am not going to post a single track from Ricky Eat Acid’s further delve into the ambient world, “You Get Sick; You Regret Things”. To do so, would be unfair to you and unfair to this particular body of work. I implore each and everyone of you to take some time out and listen - to get lost in your own thoughts and day dreams - creating scenes from imaginary films in your head. For a period of time, no matter how brief, you float in and out of scenes of comfort, elation, and renewal. Joie de vivre.

Dino Rossi just sent me over this video of “Wasting Away” from my new favorite artist, Piresian Beach. Literally, I have not stopped listening to her since I discovered her back on Wednesday. Thanks, Dino!
Lo-fi, super fuzzed, heavy, psyched out punk from… Hungary? A bit noisey, sometimes a bit bluesy, and always kissed by punk aesthetics, Piresian Beach is FANTASTIC. Jaw droppingly so. With a voice that is rather deep and demanding, I’m an immediate fan. Jump on the bandwagon NOW.

There are things in life that make you feel as if everything is going to be alright. That no matter how uncertain the current circumstances are, something will pull you out of the deep set ennui. Pepepiano makes *that* kind of music. Music which resonates inside and tells you, “everything is going to be alright.”
Last night, Pepepiano released “Babes”, a 4 song ep on bandcamp. It’s so fantastically good; colorful music filled with swirls and voices floating over hypnotic synths. This is electronic music at some of its finest moments.

Feature: Motion Sickness of Time Travel

Whether it is the (usual) grey, foggy weather here or the ennui I’m currently facing, I’m in the mood for ambient, drone, or hauntingly beautiful, slow melodies. I have become quite infatuated with Motion Sickness of Time Travel, aka Rachel Evans (1/2 of Quiet Evenings). With ethereal vocals that weave in and out of the soft instrumentation, I am convinced this is not earthly music.

I don’t think I’ll ever get over the wacky climate variations in SF. The weather varies almost drastically from one neighborhood to the next. Holy Spirits compliments such factors. From my fog laden neighborhood, to the warm, sunkissed areas; perfect melodic folk for your travels. The music swells, swirls and envelops you in a glowing warmth. This is music to lose yourself in…

MMR is back with more and that makes my heart happy. “Sweet Toof” is a lovely “lo fi soul” number and might just be my favorite MMR track thus far.
