unholy rhythms

It isn't about if you're the first to hear the music, but the fact that you're hearing it at all. I have an unnatural addiction to music. This is an attempt to "archive" my tastes with collections of links/downloads. follow me: twitter | last.fm | hype | email me: ohunholyrhythms Send me your track *if you want me to remove a link or send me music, email me.

♫ hypersonic - "moon bounce"

At night, you would paint yourself with invocations for protection. Afraid of what was before you, you would painstakingly place those pleas for safety around your body. Each morning, you would scrub the ink off your nearly grey-flesh - scrubbing until your skin broke - filling the water with red and black. You would observe your fellow house dwellers with silence, hoping that no one would force you to go astray. Everyone around you recognized how you had changed yet no one could force themselves to speak up on your behalf. Wanting to play a trick on you, they intoxicated you. As they clapped while you danced, they mockingly partook in this charade. Foolish and inebriated on spiked libations, you weaved back and forth to your room. The blurry mirror would stand still - it wanted to run away from you - just like the trickster ceiling and the dancing floor. Determined to complete your nightly ritual, you held steadfast covering almost every inch of you except for those vulnerable and large ears. In the morning you would wake up, grimacing in pain - unaware if it was the liquor or something far more sinister. Once you caught a glimpse of yourself, a blood curling scream escaped your lips. Earless. Bleeding. Wounded. Forever deaf, forever scarred.

“Hypersonic”, by Philadelphia’s Moon Bounce, aka Corey Regensburg, begins with thumping basslines and goblin-esque squelching - an impish serenade to a space time voyage. It is gorgeous yet bittersweet - a realization of devastation - a prediction come to life. Vocals sweep in, floating and swirling, and you’re truly captivated, captured by the undistinguished and foreign possibilities of what is before you. And then it stops…. a last breath of air, that last normality before the newly reborn you.

Bonus: ♫ Moon Bounce - Sleeper’s Quarrel - this track is quite different from “Hypersonic” and I implore you to take some time and listen. It is a night time persistence a-top percolating noises and drunken guitar chords. A lullaby for the stubborn.
