♫ We Have The Technology - Girl (I Wanna Be Your Girl) (Girl)

There’s something slightly familiar and satisfying about the latest track from We Have The Technology. “Girl (I Wanna Be Your Girl) Girl” ascends like a 16 bit hero pridefully climbing the pixelated tower in a triumphant conquest. It is wistful without being saccharine - peppered with evocative and aerial smatterings of piano and drum claps. And in its instrumentation, the synths ululate and yearn creating a mellifluous exultant composition with juke touches. Then is the now. Now is the next level.

LE1F - EMULATOR (DARK YORK) LE1F

LE1F’s “Emulator” (produced by Boody) showcases creaking, near cawing sonants over twittering, undulating beats. Like a possessed devotee speaking tongues - coming down, warbling, diffusing, dispersing. The percussion urges encouragement as it patters and despairingly pulsates. Submerged - drenched in lackadaisical and languid rhymes with nods to Dragon Ball, Digimon and Pokemon. Who stole my gameboy?

Void Walking Dark Mother

Misery and angst united behind masks of ourselves as I was doused in millions of possibilities before your eyes. You, you were all over my flesh, my pores - this deplorable duplicitous deception. We have made multitudes of mistakes in the name of it, yet I could not bare to think of it any longer. Desperate to rid my being of this foul, tepid, rotting malodor - your stench staining my skin like a nagging shadow.

Back in January, I wrote about Dark Mother’s dulcet, hypnotic track, “Glass Cast”. They are now back with, “Anda”, a 6 track release full of witching rhythms and thaumaturgic undertones. At times the vocals alternate between an innocent, alluring maiden and later transforms into possessed woman who wails and ululates until there is nothing left but echoing screeching and yelping. Vociferation drenched in reverb and distortion intertwine with humming synths and trilling drum machines. A cradlesong for playful, hellions - gurgling caoineadh crooners.

Hourglass S U R V I V E

On a particularly exhausting evening, filled with unanswered discoveries and escalating frustrations, I stumble upon the self titled album, released in May 2012, by S U R V I V E - compositions of giallo pop gems that haunt, vex, and beguile. Drum machines whip and pound like a weakening heart, synths wail and twitter - vocalizations of alluring yearning. Bend and giving to the pressure - the bewitching cadence - fluttering and hovering like a watcher in the night.

Flower Clap Rachel Haircut

Rachel Haircut is an electronic duo from Australia that creates “90s throwback” electronica. With samples and synths that undulate and glisten and beats that pulsate and hammer, it is almost like time travelling to another dimension.

♫ Catnapp - Look At Me

Catnapp’s “Look At Me” begins with distorted, pulsating bass and couples with ascending synths and sleepy descanting vocalization. It is languid, lethargic verses float in parallel to twinkling, clandestine bleeps and blips. Like narcotic persistence - begging for normality.

♫ Mark Wundercastle - Eternal

Over consumed by my fear and knowledge that I was being pursed, I began to retreat. Once I bid adieu to my family and friends that had so lovingly nurtured me, my resolve grew stronger. I could sense the enemy lurking in hiding - clandestine soldiers waiting to strike. Upon discovery they would shout and protest - their denial mixed with salty tears and groaning flesh. Caterwauling sirens - they began to bemoan and curse my existence as I separated their essence from their being. Ravenous. Edacious. Covetous mercenary - desiring to annihilate my consanguinity.

Dragged out, sluggish distorted vocals layer upon each other - stretching Fischerspooner’s “Emerge” into demonic, gurgling. There’s something sinister embedded between the stuttering vocals, the whip-like and threatening synths.  An ode for nefarious nocturnal activities; ominous, borderline unintelligible samples are crafted into malevolent mantras as they creep and writhe. Succumb. Relent. Acquiesce to the accursed.

♫ Crossparty - Mistake

And as I stand surveying the damage over your blossoming, flowering flesh, I could barely contain my satisfaction. You were revealed to me in all your physical glory - your composition displayed without restraint. Blooming efflorescence - translucent elegance. I admired my artistry, the mastery in which I carefully transformed your imperfections into sublime excellence. Your purple eyelids, fluttering and swollen, could only bat in agreement as I carefully sutured the incisions strewn across your skin. Wheezing. Sputtering. My tumbling doll.

Crossparty’s dark, blusterous sounds possess a touch of industrial cruelty with demanding, screeching vocalization and fuzzed out, distorted drum machines. Synths buzz and whir like chainsaws as stifled shouts vociferate loudly in alarm. Like exorcism in the dead of night - purging malignant spirits from a resisting vessel. Glittering synths graze these compositions - undulating in parallel to an enraptured songstress. Mesmerized. Inveigled. Enthralled.

♫ Window - See See

One year ago, I blogged about Window whose remix of Aaliyah’s “Rock The Boat” was everything I needed. He’s now back with a 5 track EP entitled “Strands” that is chock full of delightfully distorted samples (everything from The Dream to Trey Songz) and it is one of the best things I’ve heard this month. With synths that twitter and percolate, basslines that bounce and boom, and sludgey, reverberating vocals - that morph into pitch shifted goodness - it is hard to not gush about this release. It is almost as if Window has crawled into the corners of my mind and began to materialize all of my inner musical inklings. An alchemist of sorts - concocting hypnotic, addictive potions. Bewitching - swaddled in pop, r&b excellence.
